Wildlife

Here is our list of the wildlife we spotted on our trip between Denver and New York. We are avid observers of our natural world and enjoyed seeing Eastern birds, mammals, insects, reptiles, amphibians and plants, although we’ve been Westerners so long, we couldn’t identify many of the creatures we saw. Years of flipping through bird field guides helped us recognize field markings, and coupled with the iBird Pro App on our iPhone, we did manage to add some new birds to our personal lists. However, since many of the Eastern birds, insects, plants and especially frogs were so new to us, their names are not on this list. I’ve included a few little illustrations, some from my travel journal, others I’ve done over the past year.

As of May 29, 2011, we have updated the list to include the birds of Cape May, New Jersey. That list is at the end.
